Having been in the clear car bra paint protection film business for well over a decade, we see every day the benefits of having the film installed on a vehicle. To us, the decision is easy, maybe somewhat biased. For someone who has not had the film on their ride before, the process may not be as obvious.
Let us present few different examples and benefits of a clear bra and show situations where having the paint protection film saved the day and the paint.
First of all, the film is not a bullet proof, and it can be damaged. The entire idea is for the film to take the abuse instead of the paint. For example, on a vehicle with 20k miles exposed to daily driving and rush hour traffic, the paint will have thousands of little impact places and more than few dozen of actual chips where the paint flaked off. A comparable vehicle with the paint protection film on it, may have a small impact here or there, maybe amounting to 2-3 small chips/rips in the film. If the need arises, the film can be replaced and factory paint retained.
Second of all, there are situations where life throws a curve at us where we did not expect it. It is called just that, LIFE. We all live it, and it is full of surprises. The situation where the garage door is not as wide as we thought it was when we concentrated on our 3 kids screaming in the back of the SUV. Or that one time, when we paid attention to the dumpster behind, and have not noticed that someone put the lawn mower where it did not belong. Those are the situations we are referring to.
In most cases, a low speed impact, brushing over objects, garage door openings, bicycles, dumpsters or bollards, the paint is saved by the paint protection film. Where otherwise, one would be looking at an expensive body shop repair or coming up with a deductible for the insurance claim, few days without a vehicle, consequences of an aftermarket paint, the damage can be rectified in about an hour or two at a much lower cost. Just the portion of the damaged film can be replaced and the day was saved.
Here are some examples and pictures of the above described situation.
We hope that we were able to clarify for some potential paint protection film clients that it is worth to invest in a clear bra.
